Here's the email I just sent:

'Wonderben',
Regarding "threats", please be advised that those who falsely wear Ranger insignia are not being "threatened", they are being corrected. Unauthorised use of 3d Ranger Bn scrolls is against the law and common sense. It is not akin to wearing sports team jerseys.
The 3d Ranger Battalion has so far been to the real war 5-6 times since September, 2001. They are not playing. The Ranger Regimental scrolls represent a way of life, not a sport and certainly not any sort of make-believe.
I appreciate your reasoning in having chosen to emulate the Rangers, & I understand that 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'. However, many Rangers feel you are simply trying to feed off of reflected glory. This isn't a matter of 'agreeing to disagree' - the best way to honor these warriors is to not degrade their insignias & history by using it as props for playing games, however well intentioned.
I understand your team is wisely considering a name change, it will be best if you would create a completely original unit name; or copy some foreign mob. Should you use the term 'ranger', ensure you are not using the designation of any current or past Ranger units.
The increasing numbers of phony heroes and wannabes, especially those who seek publicity, has made the SOF community particularly intolerant of unauthorized used of hard earned regalia.
Screw your website threat of criminal charges. Please, I'd love to see a IAA member stand up in court & say 'this bad Ranger won't let me play with his toys & hurt my feelings'. Are airsoft players really that pitiful?
Someone who's earned the privilege of wearing the real 3d Ranger Battalion scroll has earned the right to police it's use and protect it's image.
Enjoy the game in your new regalia.
Kevin Ingraham.

I know, I'm being disgustingly too sugery sweet & kind to these schmoes, but I'm interested in his reply, if any.
Then your postscript might well be an appropriate comeback.

Airsoft is beginning to hurt me!

Ah, to be 16 and so completely full of shit that it leaks out of the top of your head! Never, ever again!

To be 21 years old and an Airborne Ranger = Priceless!
