OK, to reclarify, there is as much evidence as gays in the Spartan military as there are gay in our Military. They may be there, but they don't come out of the closet much.Horned Toad wrote:Least gay is still being a homo, doesn’t matter how tough they were. Would be nice if they were closer to "Gates of Fire" instead of the village people.

I do remember a thread on another forum about the movie 300 and how it glossed over the gay issue, one of the guys claimed they had found caves near Sparta with graffiti in them from the troops bragging about how much ass they got, if true, that’s gay

300 was very far away from fact it was a movie based on a cartoon that told a story about something that happened but Hollywood did its thing…. Also Spartans were not known for being gay that was the Thespians (that lost 700 in Thermopylae).Horned Toad wrote:I hope to get some time reading your link in a day or two.rgrokelley wrote: OK, to reclarify, there is as much evidence as gays in the Spartan military as there are gay in our Military. Gays existed since the beginning of life on earth. Even monkeys had at it. It will affect unit cohesion unless the entire unit is gay. Personally I don’t think the military should be full of gays but if they are lesbian and conduct the “dirtyâ€

The problem with the approach of that article, as well as with the analysis of some in this thread, is that it is approaching the issue on a purely pragmatic level rather than on a moral level. Sodomites have been attempting to silence the discussion of homosexuality as a moral issue for years, but in the end that is where the defense must be made. The military is an institution that degrades in effectiveness in as much as it degrades in her general moral standards. Being a soldier of outstanding moral character is a part of our own creed.
Not only should homosexuality be banned from the military as a moral perversion, but recruits should still be required to confess whether or not they are homosexuals. We wouldn't allow a felon to hide his felonies.

Very well put and that is what it boils down to. We as a country (U.S.) should not look at things and say, well the U.K. Allows it, or etc..etc...
The moral principle is where we stand (at least I do) I was opposed to it when I got out in 93 and I am opposed to now that I am in, have yet to meet a sodomite in the Infantry units I have worked with....
