Lets say that sombody (me) would like to put together a similar set up starting now.
What models or recommendations would you make. I assume that some of the restrictions are gone... ie post ban.

Come guys set me up!!

Ranger McD, what are you thinking about when you say similar? If you want a barrel that is as short as Ranger H8's, you'll have to register it with the BATF. I am unfamiliar with this process so I cannot comment on it in depth.

Edit Name (McD)
Ranger Unknown,

Did you go with a standard gas tube, or with the M16 Clinic's pigtail gas tube?

I was thinking of the Magpul M93B stock for my Bushmaster lower, but I don't know that I can justify the price ($225) when I can get a 6-position CAR stock for $60 or so.

I'm kind of inclined to go with the Yankee Hill Machine mid-length lightweight 4-rail handguard, and a JP Rifles adjustable gas block, with flip-up BUIS.

Hey bro, what makes you inclined to go with the YHM railed handguards? Just curious.

I'm interested in the Specter-length forearm and mounting my BUIS on the forearm.

The YHM stuff is less expensive, and I like the looks of their lightweight stuff.

Their forearms are drilled/tapped in 4 locations for a sling-swivel spud, which I thought was pretty slick.

The Larue and Daniel Defense forearms are pretty expensive.

I've ordered a DPMS M4-profile 16" bbl, and I'm gonna remove the FSB and put it on my post-ban Bushmaster 20" upper, and have that bbl threaded for a Phantom 5C1.
