We got youngsters on here that wouldn't understand. They have yet to experience the world and all it has to offer. So spell it out lady.[/quote] Sure thing, Ranger Steadfast. Here goes--
"I was born in Italy then I moved to France"--This refers to the fact that Leonardo (da Vinci) brought the painting to France in 1516.
"I am only half figured so I cannot dance"--This refers to the fact that the portrait shows her from the seated position, basically from the waist up.
"I keep my right hand snug over my left wrist, I have an enigmatic smile though I cannot kiss"--Refers to the position her hands are placed in and her facial expression.
"If you measure my height I'm only seventy seven"--Refers to the size of the portrait (77 x 53 cm)
"I have an Oscar thanks to Livingston and Evans"--Jay Livingston and Ray Evans won an Oscar for writing the song "Mona Lisa", it was written for the film Captain Carey, USA.
"I lived with Napoleon but that was not fun"--Refers again to the time frame in France
"Cole put me on the Billboard eight weeks number one"--Refers to the song above written by Livingston and Evans. It was sung by Nat King Cole. It was the #1 Billboard Pop single for 8 weeks.
That should do it!

Shouldn't that read "Grammy" instead of "Oscar", that was the part that really slowed me down.
Or, do they give Oscars for soundtracks?
I'm officially confused

The song, "Mona Lisa", is the first song from a non-musical picture to win Oscar for Best Song. According to the research I did, anyway. If I'm wrong, please let me know, cause I'm not ashamed to admit when I am. Thanks! :DHoover wrote:Shouldn't that read "Grammy" instead of "Oscar", that was the part that really slowed me down.

Thank you 289sotherhalf for the response and the answer to that riddle. It certainly was entertaining.
