You just haven't heard it done well. Check out Enders Game. you can download it to play on an MP3 player.

I think it would ruin it for me :?

Read that book four times and have myown ideas about it and how the characters look and sound.

I would think that hearing it told might be similar to seeing a movie.....it's never as good as the book.

You listen to audio books, Jim?? I love the damn things, although I lean more towards the fiction: Orson Scott Card, Ben Bova, and such.

Good to know I'm not the only one - my wife thinks I'm a freak for listening to books on CD.

Fuck her

I've got a bunch of Louis L'amour Cowboy & In'jun audio books that I pull out for roadtrips. They even have cool special effects noises in the background. If you've got a good stereo in your ride (sorry Vee)
it sounds like you are in the middle of all the action.

Enders Game was excellent...I have to agree though..Audio/Video would ruin MY perception of the characters.

Mine is empty. I try to avoid being in the truck long enough to have to listen to anything.

These books on cd/tape are so flipping fantastic for long road trips with kids!!

If we want to go anywhere, we have to drive quite a ways... When we go on long road trips (3+ hours), they know they are going to get to listen to a good story, it really ends up being a blast for everyone involved. :D

My kids just loved listening to Stephen King's "It" on the way to the circus.

Hey Angry Pistols.....I'm a big Pat Green fan. When I read that I immediately looked to your location. Knew it must be Texas...never noticed that before.

Have all his CDs....can't decide which one is the best. Maybe Wave on Wave or Lucky Ones.... :D

Hey 1/75 Mom in Texas,

My 16 y/o loves 'Americana' and turned me on to Pat Greene when we where riding in his truck on the way to Port Aransas.

I personally like 3 days best.

I have wave on wave and am not quite as fond of it as 3 days.

I highly recommend The Great Divide and Jason Boland, if you're into Pat Green and REK.
