I have this enlistment option also on my contract, but what i'm gathering is that it's all bullshit? is there any advantage to having it? thanks

Only if you think you'll fail on your way to a Ranger Battalion.

If you fail on the way to a Ranger Batt, what makes him think he will get to SF?

Seems like it would only hinder, not help you. You can ALWAYS go SF later.
