Squigly, that poor bastard had less than two seconds to react and get out of the way of that rolling SUV. NONE of us could have done it in that time. Think about things before you open your mouth.
The guy was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was moving out smartly when the collision occurred, not taking his time. The light was about to change, or had changed, when the vehicles hit (you can tell by the oncoming vehicles slowing and stopping), but he was on the far side of a four-lane highway and probably still had the Walk sign, or a flashing "Don't Walk", when he left the curb. He wasn't in the crosswalk, but that wouldn't have made any difference.
When someone disregards the light, this is what happens. I see this kind of stupid shit every day. People just don't pay attention like they should. The driver of the vehicle that ran the light was probably on the phone.
