I need some advice...enlisting, ROTC...
Re: I need some advice...enlisting, ROTC...
Rangers, thank-you for your time and help. I have been conducting more research on ROTC and being an officer, and I am going to stick with ROTC and work as hard as I possibly can. It may take a bit longer, but good things come to those who wait...I honestly think this is the best path for me.
Re: I need some advice...enlisting, ROTC...
Dave16, I am sure your PMS already told you, but don't forget to register for MILsci_101. And also you should check what time your lab is, so you don't schedule any classes and are able to attend.

Rabbit,
Thanks for the advice. I had already registered for MILsci_101, and I will definitely check to make sure my class and lab times don't conflict.
I've been doing some more research about ROTC...Is it possible to do Ranger Challenge as a MSI cadet? What about schools? (Airborne, Air Assault, etc.) I have heard that you usually have to be a MSII to go to schools, but what if you were in top physical shape and did well on all of your tests?

Dave16,
You will be able to do Ranger Challenge as an MSI, however.....I STRONGLY advise you wait until your second year to do it. I tried out for my team for about 6 weeks, rushed a Fraternity, and did school work. Stupid mistake and I am paying for it. My grades are not bad, but they are not good enough to branch inf....right now, having said that I have plenty of time before LDAC to bring my G.P.A up.
As for Schools.... each Battalion is given a certain amount of slots a year, I forgot how, I think it has to do with performance. Our battalion got ten slots for specials schools. About six Abn slots, 2 AA slots, one Mountain Warfare slot, and one Northern Warfare slot. One freshman did get to go to ABN school, simply because he showed up to the run. My brother is in AA school right now in Campbell. If you did manage to get a school your freshman year due to no one wanting it, you probably would not be able to do it again your MSII summer. Now I repeat it depends of in order Slots/Senority/Grades/PT Scores on a 12 point system. Your best bet for your first semester is to just study your ass off, and try not to hit the bars too much....

Re: I need some advice...enlisting, ROTC...
Thank you Sir. There you have it Dave16, when you take your oath, let Ranger KW Driver know, along with the information to be provided by ROTC/Academy Cadets, so that you may be admitted to the O club.....if you so choose that is.
