Hello dear Ranger community! I am the mom of TexasRusty and am new to this site. Thank you for this wonderful site. Thank you wonderful Rangers. I am so proud of all of you! I am very happy and delighted that you truly are a brotherhood that takes the time and energy to mentor those who wish and hope to live the Ranger life. Thank you for all you do.
I am very excited to say that my son who is on your Manifest Roster (8/10/10) is about to graduate from OSUT this coming Friday. He is so proud to now be going to Airborne. He asked me to mail him his Ranger Handbook a few weeks ago so he can prime himself for RASP, which is on the near horizon.
There are 12 new soldiers that will be going on to RASP after Airborne. The parents have all been exchanging information on Facebook pages. There is a new RASP Start Date 1-13-11 FB page but we have found that information and particulars about RASP is scarce. Is this a good place to get information about RASP or should we be looking elsewhere?
I want to say that I appreciate all the excellent advice you have given TexasRusty...he held out for his 11xOPT40 contract per Ranger advice on this site. Thank you for helping him navigate this amazing journey.
Thank you Rangers! Please understand my wide-eyed enthusiasm!

Welcome here, Ma'am. Hope ya stick around for awhile and your son can someday join our ranks.
It is kinda cool that the twelve parents are keeping in touch, but please keep mind, and this is just an example, but back in the day, I graduated basic training and departed for Airborne School with R.A.S.P. ( it was R.I.P. back then ) on the horizon with 11 other guys.....a total of 12, just like your son's situation. On graduation day in R.I.P. when we got to wear our coveted Black Berets for the first time, I was the only one out of the 12 present.
Not suggesting your son isn't gonna make it, but in all likelyhood, all 12 probably will not.

Thanks for the welcoming words Dear Rangers - and a special THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart Ranger Slowpoke for all the wonderful guidance and encouragement you have given TexasRusty.
Thank you all!

P.S. and Thank You to Ranger Ranger513 - as my soldier son TexasRusty would probably say, yes it is a sad fact of life that all 12 won't make it, but that's O.K. - everyone can't be a Ranger - they are Special!
