I see a post count of 44 on you... yet I find no introduction. This forum is run BY Rangers, FOR Rangers... others are welcome, if you follow simple rules.
I will be happy to answer your question about motorcycles, and steer you on the right path, since they are a passion of mine, and I take it very seriously.
But, until I see that you are following the instructions set forth by our moderators... I will wait and see how you react.
Cheers!

She's OK. She's a secret squirrel operative of ours.
In a similar vein, anyone know anything about Dynax nylon? I'm thinking about getting into riding and I'm seeing a lot of relatively cheap gear made with it. Around 150 for a jacket made of it an reinforced with armor.
It sounds like a good deal, but nylon concerns me. I had a Coolmax melt to my skin while trying to regain control of a formerly "controlled burn" and I'd rather not have a motorcycle jacket do the same to me.
Well, nylon is not really the best anti-abrasive material out there.. I really prefer leather. But, I know several people who ride in Aerostich Suits, or Core-tex ballistic nylon stuff... I don't know how they react in a "get off", but I have seen the Aerostich stuff hold up well. No matter what you get, any gear is better than NO gear. I have a few group buddies out here with me... one is a die hard Harley rider... he wears NOTHING but a tee shirt and jeans, with a little skid lid. I tell him all the time... to take off running as fast as he can and dive into the assphault. Now, imagine that at 45-60 mph... he smiles, and says... "Yeah, good point, but at least I LOOK cool".
I have two different one piece leather suits. I have a MotoGP Kangaroo suit that I use for the street, and a custom made Helimot Suit made here in San Jose that I use on the track. I also have a Fieldsheer Leather jacket, and two or three pairs of leather pants. I just bought a pair of fieldsheer sport touring pants to wear over my ACU's.
No matter if I am just going to the store, or an all day ride. I dress for the CRASH, not the ride.
I have had three crashes in almost 20 years of riding. Two of them were on the track, one was on the street. All three, I walked away without a scratch.
Protective Gear is like Body Armor... I would rather HAVE it than not NEED it, than to NEED it and not HAVE it.
As for the secret squirrel operator... I was just trying to do my part. I sent her a PM with some motorcycle advice... don't know if she read it or not.
My advice is to start small... EX250... great bike. I own one myself... tons of fun to ride in the twisties of the Santa Cruz Mountains... not many of the true "sport bikes" can stay with it in the tight twisty stuff. The only bikes that give me a run for the money in the goat trails are the SuperMoto guys... basically MX bikes with street tires.... super fun!
I ride a GSXR1000 for my street bike, and I have a GSXR750 as a dedicated track bike. My 1000 is great on the street, but even for me, it is a bit too much bike on the track.
Cheers!!
