SITREP - Mo
SITREP - Mo
Rangers, this coming week I will be shipping out to Fort Jackson to begin BCT. I am extremely grateful for the time I have had to be part of this community and all the knowledge it has provided. I'm very energetic and ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead, and will stay in touch to the best of my ability during my journey.

Remember your goals and stay focused. It's going to be a marathon for you over the next 12-18 months not a sprint!

Re: SITREP - Mo
Rangers, I’ve since graduated BCT and am currently on route to Fort Sam Houston for AIT. I’ve been in touch with David (atl456) and we should be linking up on post before he leaves for airborne, he’s been a great resource for me to know what to expect for these next 4 months. I’ll be sure to make the absolute most of my time studying hard and PTing harder.

Re: SITREP - Mo
Congratulations on your progress so far, Mo. How was your final APFT coming out of basic? Remember to train in your off time for chin-ups and the 5 mile run.
Any advice for folks going to basic on Fort Jackson?

Re: SITREP - Mo
Thank you Ranger Disinfertention. My final APFT score out of basic unfortunately was lower than I had hoped to attain at 235. I dropped off from my self test scores which I foresaw but did not bounce back as well as expected. I will most definitely be training harder here.
My advice for anyone going to Fort Jackson is to square away your priorities. I often found myself exerting extra effort and time on tasks that were made to seem important but then either given the answers to the test or not tested at all on it, wasting a lot of valuable time I could’ve spent on PT.
We were honestly restricted significantly when it came to trying to run on our own time, and Alpha group AGRs were not challenging at all. I suppose every Battalion is different.
Fortunately it seems one of the cadre here values supplemental PT for Airborne and Ranger contracts, so if I’m lucky it will be included in our day to day schedule, leaving me more time to balance studying and my own supplemental workouts/runs.
