My profound apologies for posting this if it's been discussed already. I just received a call from a very upset mother. My father has just run into an issue with what he's been told is called "concurrent receipt." He's now only receiving $23 per month in retirement pay. Here are the specifics of his situation:
Vietnam veteran with a 40% disability related to agent orange exposure.
19 year veteran of the Minnesota and Iowa ARNG.
He's been informed that the amount of his disability payment can be deducted from his retirement pay. Is this a "normal" thing? If so, is there any remedy available for him?
I find it beyond the pale that a guy can spend over 20 years in uniform, have a service related disability and then see his retirement pay cut to $23 per month.

Thanks in advance for any help.
