Good luck stud. Stay focused. Keep PT'ing. DO NOT get yourself in trouble during hold over...Dozens have made it as far as you and then porked the pooch doing something stupid when they are this close....just don't.

Focus on your goal...even during the down time. That is when it is most important to know what you want vs. what you want "right now". Your life can change for the worse in an instant.

You have had a good mentor. You have worked hard. You will now work harder than you ever thought you could. This is what you have prepared for.

Congratulations Cherry!

A month in RIP hold? Now it's really time to learn that 'zen' attitude that'll keep you sane through your enlistment for all those days you'll spend at departure airfields awaiting the birds to take you home, or not; to get through days of mind numbing work details, those immediate supervisors that you are twice as accomplished as....you'll know what I mean when you see it.

Think of RIP as preparation for Pre-Ranger.

Ranger K.Ingraham,

I'll keep this previous post of yours in mind during holdover. Besides, as bad as I want this, I'll wait however long they require for my shot at becoming a Ranger. They give us nights and weekends off, we get good PT every morning, and we are living in a Ranger compound. Sounds a whole lot better than 30th AG to me! :D

Troops: You have three - six years in the Green Machine. WTFlyingF does it matter where the the first 2-4 months are spent?? You still have 3-6 years to serve. Doing OSUT twice is something no one else will ever notice in your lifetime, and even though it seems like a long time at your age, it really is NO time at all!
Lots of guys quit because they are impatient and can't wait 1-2 months for airborne or RIP hold, or some similar excuses. What does this gain you? Waiting at some Big Army post for the same length of time where you're still doing details, not training like you claim to want, still at the bottom of the food chain and most likely no closer to the fight than you were before, and more likely it will be even longer before you get deployed.

When you don the uniform, also don a 'zen' attitude about time. Four years is four years. There will be no difference in the rest of your life if you spend 1, 2 or 4 more months at Ft Tentpeg as opposed to Ft Goatscrew. You're still wearing stupid looking ACUs and your paycheck is the same. You're building your TIS towards E-2 or E-3 and will likelier arrive at your final station with one more stripe than you otherwise would have.
Patience is one of the best qualities a soldier can adopt.

Think of RIP as preparation for Pre-Ranger.

Well dang, I forgot about that one. Good eye XCRunner. Or more appropriately, good attitude!

(Not that you need to be told this but...)

Keep both ears and both eyes wide, wide open and that one mouth shut. You are being assessed already.
