Re: Introduction - Kevin
Kevin, If you're #1 goal is to join the Active side of the Army, you need to make 100% sure you aren't eligible to get in. If you're not and can get in the Guard, then that is your back door. Once you're in the Guard, you can transfer units or to a different state if that's what you want, even to RI...

Re: Introduction - Rick
Thank you for your service. I was just a boy while you were in. I can remember the day my mom told me we were going to war in Iraq. Be sure to read (and your son) all the threads here so he can get what he wants out of his contract. If he has the heart, there isn't much too stop him.

Re: Introduction - Kevin
If you're willing to drive and start the enlistment process over again, Rhode Island has an Airborne unit you may be interested in. Not sure about your state, but you would get to jump out of planes, if you're into that sort of thing. You're waiver's you get should still be good, but it will piss of...

Re: RS....Summer or Winter??
If you keep your attitude and are in shape, there is no doubt you will do well. Keep your attitude though. A strong will goes a long way. Do yourself a favor though, set your sights higher than the "Standard". I trained to meet the standard, and wish I would have trained harder. Things cou...

Re: RS....Summer or Winter??
The motivation you have towards Ranger School now needs to be applied towards every school you have to attend beforehand. One step at a time. Keep your targets focused on, and in order. You will find yourself at Ranger School in no time, wondering just what the hell you were thinking. ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

Re: Running plan
Well I really really really want to see you succeed. It's refreshing to see your level of motivation. The only factor that will stop you from achieving your goals, is you. The plan from military.com is not a bad plan for someone beginning. My only qualm is that it doesn't build much distance, which ...

Re: Running plan
Oh you should definitely be as prepared as possible. I dropped about 3 minutes on my two mile time during Basic. What I meant was you need to start thinking about more than just the two mile. Here is a program I used with pretty good success. It trains you for a 10k (6.2 miles) in 8 weeks. http://ww...

Re: Running plan
Thanks for the info. I'll be honest with you, OSUT can take a fat guy and improve his two mile time to max the PT test. You really need to be able to run 5-10 miles if you want to be successful in RASP and beyond. I have used Hal Higdon's training programs to prep me for a few Half-Marathons. Here i...

Ranger School 5-10
Rangers and Vets, Thank you for the site. It has been a great resource and an even better motivator. I graduated Ranger School 05-10. I had the good fortune of a great squad which pushed me straight through. However, I did recycle WTC PRC and had the both good and bad fortune of having Ranger KH as ...
