There were many ideas being thrown around about the tabs back in the mid-80s. There was even a "SPARTAN" tab idea to show you were both SF and Ranger. Eventually it coame down to what we see today, the tripple canopy: SF, Ranger then Airborne.

I left the battalion in '87 because at that time, Regiment was getting stupid. Basically, the regimental sergeant major came out to Lewis and told all of us NCOs, that we were to become the best light infantry in the world! No more special ops or schools, just the basic stuff. That didn't sit well ...

I'm Erick Nason, I served in A CO, 2/75th 12/85-09/87 before heading off to Special Forces. I was assigned to the weapons platoon, carried a 90 for awhile.
