Introduction - Gerard

Post by Gerard » February 15th, 2017, 12:20 pm

Hello Rangers,

My name is Gerard. I'm 23 years old from Southern California and have recently been looking into Ranger Regiment to determine if this is something I want to do. I'm currently a civilian with no military experience or backround and have neither talked to a recruiter nor entered the DEP. I find this site to be informative and I'm impressed with how much time and effort the Rangers/Admins spend to maintain its integrity and to keep it relevent and functional over the years.
My purpose for posting is that I've seen mention in numerous places around this forum of a seemingly important "Five Mentees thread" but I have been unable to locate it by browsing and using the search feature on the site. Is anyone able to point me to it? Thanks.

Welcome Gerard. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you're at the right site. We at ArmyRanger.com take a great deal of pride in the young men who pass through here on their life journey. Please tell us more about yourself. Most of the questions you might have can be addressed by using the search feature, located on the top left of this page. Please read the FAQs, as well as select stickies and threads. I see you have not completed a PT Test; please self-administer one and post it to this thread within the next 72 hours. The five mentee thread is reserved for those future soldiers who have already obtained an Option 40. Never, never quit!

Understood, Ranger Jim.

I'd also like to request the task list in which you PM to DEPS for educational purposes if that information isn't off limits aswell.
I'll self-administer a PT Test when my logistics allow and post it here.

Since my last post, I've since learned the task list which DEPs get is part of the five mentee thread so I'll retract my request out of respect for your system.

PT scores:
push ups - 35
sit ups - 40
2 mile - 20 minutes
pull ups - 2

There's no denying I'm out of shape... Lots of room to improve - and I will

Gerard,

Honesty and integrity is something that comes cheap on the internet. Your willingness to post your honest scores speaks highly of your character. If you cheated those scores, you really suck. That's ok, you've got to start somewhere and I like being a smartass :)

The process of joining the military isn't a long one and the transformation is quick. The difference, however, is those who want to be a member of the 75th from the start of their career. Establish your goals early. Set the MOS you want with the OPT 40 and never back down from it.

Feel free to PM me if you wish to ask more direct questions that your searches doesn't fulfill.

Ranger Jim, thanks for the link. I wasn't aware the 75th had a 37F - then again there's much I don't know. Great information.
