Ranger Pilla is still leading the way many years after his sacrifice for our country.

Marko (2019) from the Vineyard Daily Journal writes, "When district schools are dedicated, it’s tradition that a portrait of the building’s namesake be displayed.

Preparing for the official naming of the Sgt. Dominick Pilla Middle School on April 6, Jennifer Pilla Martine consulted with local artist George Perez about a painting of her older brother.

Pilla, 21, was killed Oct. 3, 1993, during an ambush while on a mission in Somalia. That Battle of Mogadishu was depicted in the film “Black Hawk Down.”
