Post by centermass » March 22nd, 2019, 10:35 am

Hailing from an upstate New York town of less than two thousand people, SFC Carpenter had served for over eleven years and left behind a wife of seven years and a young daughter. He was 30 at the time of his death.

SFC Carpenter was a reconnaissance specialist with the 75th’s Regimental Special Troops Battalion.

"Sergeant First Class Ethan Carpenter was an exemplary Soldier and Ranger Leader, and a dedicated husband and father,” said Colonel Joseph Ewers, commander, Regimental Special Troops Battalion. “He did the toughest jobs well and was the consummate team member when it counted the most, both in garrison training and in deployed combat. He represented our Nation’s best, and we’ll miss him dearly.”

Joining the Army in 2007, Carpenter was assigned initially to 1st Ranger Battalion. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Joint Service Commendation Medal with OLC, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Ranger Tab, Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, Senior Parachutists Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge and had 8 combat deployments.
