Introduction - Carter

Post by Cbrenn99 » February 18th, 2019, 4:33 pm

Hello Rangers,

My name is Carter. I am 19 years old and I have solidified an 11X contract with a March 4th ship date. I found this site a little late, but I plan to gather as much information as possible about the pipeline to the 75th Ranger Regiment as well as life within it before I leave. I was unable to obtain an Option 40 contract because I received shoulder surgery in 2015 due to a football injury during my Sophomore year of high school. I contacted the 75th Ranger Regiment liaison on Fort Benning and he said that during the 7th week of OSUT he will be giving a briefing to everyone on how to volunteer for RASP. I plan to volunteer and hopefully receive a slot to go to RASP. The reason I am pursuing the 75th Ranger Regiment is because I want to be surrounded by like-minded individuals that are motivated, professional, and want to be there doing their job. Also, I want to challenge myself every day and do something few people have. I hope to learn a lot in the little time I have to take advantage of this valuable resource. I don’t currently have an updated APFT score to share, but will have one posted within 48 hours.

Thank you, Ranger CharlieRanger1FFV.

My PFT scores are as follows:
PU- 63
SU-72
2 mile- 14:46

They are nowhere near where I’d like them to be, but I hope to score a 300 by the end of OSUT.

Welcome, Carter. While you may have arrived here late in the game, the information you'll be able to gather here will nonetheless give you an advantage. Work hard, train smart, and position yourself for success: if there are a limited number opportunities to volunteer for RASP, do all you can to ensure you are the most prepared candidate.

Roger, Ranger Lunch.
I will post a SITREP once I figure out whether or not there will be an available slot. As they days left at home dwindle down I am becoming more anxious and focused than ever, and this site has proved very valuable. I appreciate what you guys are doing here.

Use that anxious energy to your advantage. For future reference, both here and once you actually ship out...and especially once you succeed in securing a slot in RASP: do refer to members of the Ranger community as "Rangers", not "you guys". Get used to the formality of using titles appropriately, razor-sharp attention to detail, and short-fused summbitches who are just chomping at the bit to eat you alive every step of the way.

Good luck Carter, Ranger Lunch gave great advice if you want to earn a spot. When you feel down work harder, work out, study...stay away from the bitching and complaining. You will learn a lot about yourself stay focused, remember Your goals. Have Fun!
