The only one of these distinguished gentlemen I served with was BG "Smoking "Joe Stringham. I have met several others over the years.

Re: The 2017 List For Induction Into RTB Distinguished Members Of The Brigade
I had both the honor and privilege to serve with Tommy. The man is hard as woodpecker lips and as humble as they come - the epitome of a Ranger and a true, quiet professional. I'm just surprised he was not inducted sooner.
The 2017 Distinguished Member of the Brigade ceremony was held on Thursday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade Headquarters on Camp Rogers.
1SG Tom Wilburn is being inducted into the Distinguished Member of the Brigade for his outstanding contributions and distinguished service to the United States Army and the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade during his career.
Ranger Tom Wilburn enlisted in the US Army in January, 1980. He spent 20 continuous years on hazardous duty airborne status. He served in the 1st Ranger Battalion, 2nd Ranger Company, 5th Ranger Training Battalion, and 1st Special Forces Operation Detachment Delta. He has participated in every major armed conflict the United States has been involved in since the Vietnam War. In many instances, 1st Sgt. Wilburn was the sole U.S. military representative in the hostile areas of operations he served in. (Grenada, Panama, Iraq, El Salvador, Bosnia) and other hostile locations. Ranger Wilburn has spent his entire career as an Airborne Ranger and 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta team member. He competed and finished the Army Best Ranger Competition four times and was the 1992 winner.
He was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in 2005. After retiring from the U.S. Army, 1st Sgt. Wilburn was a charter member of the Asymmetric Warfare Group and deployed 16 times to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism as an Army Operational Advisor.
He participated in the airborne combat jump into the island of Grenada with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.
