Hello, my name is Nick. I am 18 years old from Chicago, I work in a warehouse. I enlisted into the Army as an 11x with an option 40 in September of this year, and ship out January 3rd, 2017. I was originally interested in joining the SEALs and was fully prepared to do so, however as more books and movie deals came out I became frustrated and decided that I wanted to go do a job like this with men who could keep their mouths shut afterwards, since I strongly believe that is one of the most important parts of SOF. I spoke to a Ranger I met on a special operations forum I help moderate, and I decided this was the best route for me. I am here to hopefully have a better resource to prepare me to succeed in not just RASP but in the Regiment as well. Thank you all for what you have done in the service, and what you continue to do here.

Jim, it's hard for me to believe that he's been on the site so many times since being asked these questions and has not looked at his own introduction since posting it.

I'm starting to think he's avoiding the answers purposely because he has no good answer for it.

Unless this young man comes back with some type of verifiable legitimate reason within 48 hours why he's refused to answer our questions I submit that he should IP blocked for integrity violations and not allowed access to the valuable information provided here for those young men better than him.

May sound harsh to some others reading this but we have high standards for a reason.

My apologies Ranger Jim, Ranger Cam, and Ranger RangerX, if you would like me to screenshot my computer I can show genuine evidence as to why I haven't been able to get onto this website from home. I have told Ranger Jim in a PM that my solution to the problem is that I will be driving myself to the library everyday now so I can get on here and keep doing my tasks and respond to these comments. I have also done 55 push ups as punishment (one for each day I did not respond to a Ranger comment within this thread). The SOF forum I moderate is this one https://www.reddit.com/r/navyseals/, my username on there is /u/laesyvan. I was made a moderator after one of the legitimate SEALs on there was sent to jail and there was a need for help, so I volunteered. I have been helping out there ever since.

What is the vetting process of the "legitimate" SEAL's for that site?

Why wouldn't another "legitimate" SEAL fall into that spot as opposed to a NEWB with no military experience?

I'll admit stranger things have happened in life and it's not an impossibility, which is why I'm asking and trying to understand, as all of the sites that I know of would not allow this unless you were a mod for Newbs only, entering service and only to get them squared away so they don't step on their dicks and get banned.

I will admit, the days that I was on here and didn't respond were simply due to me not checking my introduction thread. I had mistakenly assumed that nobody else would comment in there since it had been a while without any other responses. That was my own mistake, and I apologize for that Ranger Cams.

The vetting process of the "legitimate" SEALs on there began with the person who is in charge of the SEAL subreddit, user "nowyourdoingit" who has done multiple "ask me anything" posts on the website as a SEAL that required him to show genuine evidence of his service so that he could go about with the post. I am not able to tell you exactly what he provided to those people to prove that he is a SEAL, all I know is that the moderators of the subreddit (a different forum on the same website) are very professional and know what they are looking for, and will remove posts if they are made by people who do not show undeniable proof. If it gives any credibility to that subreddit, President Obama and countless celebrities have conducted "ask me anythings" and had to verify themselves through the moderator team, so I have faith in their ability to vet people. "Nowyourdoingit" vets the few other SEALs that moderate the SEAL subreddit, and their knowledge is extremely accurate which would lead me to believe that they are all legitimate.

I was chosen simply due to the circumstances at the time. There are currently only 4 legitimate SEALs who moderate the forum, and at the time one of them had gone to jail, the other was traveling the world, another is still active duty, and the final one simply doesn't really go on the website very often. The one that had gone to jail was the most active, and the one who was traveling stopped by every now and then to help but he was understandably busy. There were no other SEALs who volunteered to help (to my understanding), so the SEAL who was heading to jail simply asked the forum if anyone wanted to help out. He chose me, another person who has now gone off to training, and the (now ex) girlfriend of a SEAL. He said that we seemed pretty level headed and would be alright to do the job, so that is why I and the two others were chosen over legitimate SEALs.

I'll defer to Ranger X's opinion of this as I know nothing about Reddit and how it vets people or runs its forums.
