SITREP - Isaiah

Post by Mungi671 »

Rangers,

I depart very soon to Ft. Benning. I have a long series of flights ahead of me with the first headed to Honolulu. Here are the results of my final self-administered APFT conducted on 20150907.
2 Minute Push ups - 87
2 Minute Sit ups - 69
2 Mile Run - 12:47
Pull Ups - 16
I have physically and mentally prepared myself over the last year for the challenges I am about to face. With the guidance I have received from the Rangers of this site, I am confident that I will be able to secure an Airborne and RASP slot in OSUT.
I am hungry for this and I dont plan on disappointing.

We have seen a good number of trainees earn a BAC/RASP slot in OSUT recently. Earn this!

Rangers,
Today I graduated from Infantry OSUT. I am extremely glad to report that I picked up a BAC and RASP slot. I report to Airborne School immediately after holiday block leave on January 2nd. A few weeks in I was able to achieve a 300 PT score and I maintained it throughout the cycle. My final APFT results are as follows
Push ups - 81
Sit ups - 89
2 mile run - 12:36

I haven't been able to test my pull ups as of recently. For the people that aren't able to get an Option 40 in their contract I will briefly describe the process I went through to get a slot. I made sure that my intentions to volunteer for BAC/RASP were clear to the Drill Sergeants since white phase. I had a 300 and was in the little student leadership position so no Drill Sergeants objected to me volunteering. The last thing you want is your Drill Sergeant to tell you to sit down when the Ranger Liason tells volunteers to stand up because you are a shitbag. This was the case for a few people. The liason came in Week 10 of training to ask for people that want to drop their contract and people that want to volunteer. About 15 guys dropped their Option 40 (which surprised me) and roughly the same amount stood up to volunteer.
In the end only one other person and I ended up filling out the short paperwork. The liason was looking for guys with a 290 + PT score and a minimum 107 GT score. A week and a half later I received my orders to Airborne school and took an Airborne physical.
The whole process was a lot simpler than what I thought it would be. Hopefully this information helps someone out there. My plans for the exodus leave is to keep pushing myself during PT, eat healthy, and stay focused on the objective. I'm more determined than ever to make it through RASP. I can't get complacent.

Great SITREP, you've earned this slot, now go out there and prove you deserve it. Have fun on Christmas break, enjoy family, food and friends, but remember what is waiting for you when you get back. Keep you nose clean and PT till you puke, and remember you will probably have a urinalysis waiting for you when you get back from break, so tell your friends to smoke em on their own, you've got a future to worry about. Give everything you've got, every time you give and never, ever quit! RLTW

Great Sitrep, Isaiah. Now that you have the slot, make it happen. Always give 100% in everything that you do.

Ranger Jim,
After returning from HBL I was very fortunate to only spend 4 days in Airborne Hold and class up with the very first class of the year. Today was the first day of Airborne School, the environment is extremely relaxed compared to OSUT. I was not surprised by the professionalism that all the blackhats display. They are all subject matter experts. I'm spending my evenings putting in some PT and continuing to run to prepare for what's ahead. The majority of this class consists of soon to be RASP candidates. I am staying focused on the objective and being careful to avoid injury. The real challenge begins in 3 weeks!
