SITREP - NSB

Post by NSB »

I will be going down to the hotel tomorrow morning, and I will be going to MEPS and shipping out on Sept 03. I will keep this Ranger community updated on how I am doing as often as I can. I will be living the Ranger Creed every day, and hopefully someday I will be able to don the tan beret. Thank you all for the words which I have read in your posts, and the advice that I have received. Your knowledge will be and is invaluable.

Thursday we completed our 12 mile ruck to honor hill and I received my cross rifles. My turning blue ceremony is on this up coming Thursday, and then I will be graduating on Friday.

There were definitely many ups and downs to OSUT. I don't think I had it as badly as a lot of people do. My SDS was more into playing mind games than physical punishments. For instance, we had to carry a 20lb brick with the roster numbers of our PT failures on it. I got off to a bad start with a few of the drill sergeants here because I guess I had an attitude problem. I got smoked daily by a drill sergeant up until about 3 or 4 weeks ago because he thought I had an attitude problem, but I'm all good now.

Anyways, lets see if I can remember a few things about this. I ended up shooting expert with my M4. Hmmm, my first PT test I did terribly and actually failed, but I managed to climb back up to a 271 which was alright. Other than that, not much happened except for normal training and making friends.

After I graduate, I'm going home to do HRAP for a week or so, and then begin block leave until I report back here on Jan 4th for airborne school. I'm excited to continue my training and to continue bettering myself. Hopefully one day I will be able to call myself an Airborne Ranger.

You had the opportunity to prepare for this when you were here on ArmyRanger.com. You will exact what you put into what was asked of you while you were in Mentoring Zone.

Keep the sitreps coming.

When you sign-in after block leave on 4 Jan, you can expect that your first task will be a PT test. It is an old Infantry School tradition to welcome you back. Never, never quit!

Sounds good to me, Ranger Jim.

Another quick SITREP. My platoon voted for me to be promoted from E-2 to E-3; I will be recognized with the other 7 people being promoted at our Turning Blue Ceremony this Thursday.

Well, long story short... The first sergeant didn't want me to get promoted, so he denied it and promoted someone else. Oh well.

Very true Ranger Steadfast. All I truly care about right now is that I am an 11B, and will soon be working towards the rest of the requirements to become a Ranger.

Took a PT test on Wednesday to see who would go to Airborne school due to there only being 104 slots for 154 soldiers.

Push-ups: 61
Sit-ups: 77
2 mi run: 13:42

I probably set myself back a little bit on not doing much PT over the holidays, so I'll have to work my ass off to make up for that. The Ranger Liason gave us a workout schedule for the next 3 weeks of airborne to get us prepared for RASP, which I will make sure to follow.

I in-processed into 1-507th and then Charlie company on Thursday, and we will begin training on Monday.
