Introduction - Jordan

Post by Diord Fionn »

Hello Rangers, Servicemen, DEPs, and prospective recruits,

My name is Jordan; I’m 22 years old and I’m currently a senior in college. Upon graduation I will enlist in the Army with either an 11X Option 40 or an 18X contract. My purpose in joining this website is to gather more information about the Ranger Regiment -- I want to make certain I’ve educated myself equally on each group prior to making my decision. I've found this site extremely helpful thus far, I've already gained a great deal of information for my lurking.

Thank you for your time and service,

Jordan

Just an update, after a lot of research I've decided that 11x Option 40 is what I want. I want to thank you all for your information on these forums, I've been able to find the answer to any questions I've came up with. I've graduated college in May and have spoke to my recruiter regarding a Ranger contract and am scheduled to go to MEPS 8/16 to take the ASVAB. I don't mind waiting for as long as it takes to secure an 11x Option 40.

Thanks again,

Jordan

If you have been reading the FAQs, stickies, and select threads, you might notce that option 40 is offered in OAUR. Never, never quit!

Thank you Ranger CharlieRanger1FFV and Ranger Jim.

Ranger Jim, I'm not familiar with OAUR, and was unable to find anything via a search. Can you please elaborate? Thanks again.

Sorry, typo. OSUT is one station unit training. That is what they do at Fort Benning.

Ranger Jim, thank you. I had read about getting a shot at OSUT provided PT scores are excellent. That is an avenue I'm definitely considering as well, I'd rather start the process sooner than later.

Quick sitrep,

I took my ASVAB today and I'm reserving my job on Monday. I'll take an Option 40 if I can get one but I'm snagging an 11x regardless and will earn the opportunity to go to RASP at OSUT.

Ranger Steadfast, PT scores are as follows

Push ups - 63
Sit ups - 75
2 Mile - 11:51
Dead-hang pull ups - 12

I am pretty disappointed in my scores but at least I have a baseline.

Thank you Ranger jester, I'd like to be well above 300 prior to arriving at OSUT so I've got my work cut out.

I signed and swore in today 11X, wasn't able to negotiate an Option 40 but I'm fine making it happen the old-fashion way. I'll continue PT'ing, studying, and enjoying life before I ship out 20130102. Thanks again for the advice and information.
