Intro - Parent
I have been registered to visit this board for a little over a year, and I appreciate being allowed to browse and lurk but I figured it was about time to introduce myself. As the screen name indicates and the sticker on my car says, I’m the Proud Parent of a US Army Ranger. There is also a sticker just below it, appropriately placed, with a Second Bat. Scroll.
Being in NC, I was able to visit Benning to see my son graduate from Infantry basic, Airborne (saw 4 jumps & got to pin his jump wings in the appropriate, non-pc, fashion), RIP and Ranger School (Class 9-02). Got to pin on his scroll and tab as well. On the other side, being in NC means I don’t get to see him very often now.
As a side note, I have been a high school football official for over 30 years. For the coin toss I now use a 2/75th Ranger Coin my son gave me. Prior to the toss I show it to the captains give a short speech that I use the coin as a tribute to my son and all other members of our armed forces past & present.
Thanks for allowing me access to this great site. As a parent, we never get all the information we would like to have. We understand why, but it doesn’t make it easier. Reading the info on this site gives me a better perspective on what my son and other Rangers do and the dedication it takes to be the best. Thanks to you all, Rangers and others, who serve or have served this great country.

A pleasure to have you here Pop. I think it is pretty awesome that you have had the opportunity to be able to witness your son's graduations throughout his military career.
You are a very lucky man.
Welcome.

Other people were fine and you liked them and were good friends; but you only felt true tenderness and love for those who had been there and had received the castigation that everyone receives who goes there long enough." Pop, Great intro, great story, great testimony and great pleasure to have you here. I would have given all of my pay for a year to have my folks, brothers, sisters, anyone from my family there when I graduated. Dont think they knew I went to Airborne School, didnt know I was in a Ranger unit, didnt know I was in Ranger School much less graduated....having a Dad like you would make any son proud. Hats off to you, Sir.

That is one of the coolest things I've ever heard. I salute you and your son. Welcome aboard. We're glad to have you.
