When to pack?

Post by 600rr »

Will I have any time after airborne grad to shop for my RIP packing list, or will I need to get it before basic?

If a Ranger could help me out, thatd be great because my recruiter is one lazy sob.

You will have plenty of free time during airborne school. Use it wisely

DO NOT take anything to RASP that is not needed.

Get a new packing list from one of these other guys that is there now.

ALSO, do yourself a favor, go get an aviator kit bag to put stuff in for bag dragging.

It's where you have a bag...and you drag it behind you with your foot because you are already carrying your duffels in your arms.

Would it be recommended to store all of my extra stuff I've amassed (civies, laptop, etc) in a storage place for a few months?
I'm currently in airborne school and don't need half the stuff I have.

Thanks, Rangers.

that would assume you can trust them not to clean you out when you aren't looking.

leaving it all in your car (if you have one) in the RASP parking lot isn't a a good course of action either.

Good advice for a young, single soldier is to never accumulate more crap than you can stuff into a couple of duffles and haul about in one trip.
Accumulate your pay instead.

Hello Rangers,

This can probably be answered by a newly graduated Ranger.. In regards to RASP1 items allowed to have- do you keep your cell phone for after the duty day.. When ever that is or do they collect them up like in OSUT. My wife hasn't asked me yet, but I'd like to have the answer ahead of time. Lastly, I have a pair of hair clippers- will I be able to keep them and cut my own hair during RASP1 or do I have to get it cut at the Ft. Benning price of $8 a week.
Thank you.
