Introduction Joseph

Post by TexMed »

Hello,

I am a 35 year old Physician Assistant student waiting to join the Rangers.
So I am here to read and learn all I can about Ranger life.

I will be an old fart by military recruit standards but I do take care of myself and can meet the PT standards. I have worked out for most of my life and been training for the PT about a year. Among other things I have been training to score 300 on the PFT in the youngest age bracket.
My Grandfather was a Ranger in WW2 and my Father was a Marine Sniper in Vietnam so I was lucky enough to have a lot of weapon and little survival training growing up. My dad was a Master Marksman and I learned to shoot both a rifle and pistol from him so I think my scores in that area of testing will be solid..

Now, My reason for joining at such an "advanced" age
I originally wanted to join when I was 19 but I had a pregnant girlfriend and a G.E.D. so the military at that time wouldn't have me.
I have since divorced, owned my own business and gone to college but becoming a PA has been what I wanted to do for a years now and I have been working towards that. The military IPAP program is one of the best trauma wise and having worked with and volunteered around some of the wounded warriors coming back from overseas and seeing the sacrifice that people are making on this nations behalf I can think of nothing more I'd rather do with my skills than to use them to say thank you.

So right now I am looking to join 68W option 40. As I am sure everyone here already knows it's a waiting game. So I am waiting for a spot to open up, training myself and learning all I can about it. It's worth it, option 40 is the only way to go.
