Replacing the M16 and M4?

Good evening Rangers and other service members. Does anyone have a clue when and what they may be replaced by? Ive heard lots of rumors. I know there is an unimaginable amount of political bs behind it, but I was just curious.

I just thought of another question I wanted to add. Do the M4 M16 and other AR15 variants typically break down the same way? as far as recievers, bolts, carriers, and firing pin? I know I could probably find this answer in a book but I am very farmiliar with the Ar15 so I was just trying to save some time. Thank you.

There is a lot of information on this site, taking time to read it is not about saving time, it gives you the opportunity to learn. If you have done all your searches and read the materials and you still have these questions then maybe someone may help. This forum is not about making things easier or quicker for you, it is to allow you the opportunity to excel.

I totally agree with research and reading but to add short notes, no big plans as of yet for changing them.

Honestly the dependability issue lies more with the operator then the gun system. Soldiers need to learn how to properly maintain , clean and lube it. The M16 platform is reliable and runs just fine if the operator knows what they are doing.

Thanks Ranger, I knew what he was referring to and I was mainly addressing his first question of the replacement of the M16 series rifle with a new platform (like the SCAR).
