Government-Sponsored Health Care

Post by Jim »

While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with a friend the other day, I think we stumbled on the perfect solution for health care. I'm sure you've heard the idea that if you're a senior you need to suck it up and give up the silly notion that you need any health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We really can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Let's take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.

So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 3 bullets. You are allowed to shoot one senator and 2 representatives. In a relatively short period of time, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need! New teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem! New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart? Bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you won't be paying any more income tax.

This would be funny if it wasn't so close to truth of where we may soon be.

Sounds like a good way to avoid the additional 2.5% tax that the lawmakers creating the healthcare reform bill are proposing be tacked on to a individual's tax rate, IF it is deemed that individual does not have 'adequate' health insurance.

Here in Seattle many companies have been changing the classification of their employees so they can avoid paying them benefits.

I'd like to know who gets to decide what is adequate insurance and what is not, oh wait I probably do not want to know the answer to that! And I imagine that there is more good news buried in the proposed healthcare bill that didn't catch my eye yet.

Hey, whats another 2.5% increase on income tax. When there is a huge percentage of citizens, that don't pay any, because they don't bother getting jobs, or trying to get jobs, and have spent there whole life in the welfare system. In their world, the more kids you can pump, the more welfare you get. Those are the people the dems want to look out for, not us hard working folks.

Government can't get the Swine Flu vaccine figured out and administered. Where the shots have been available, people stood in long lines and waited for hours. How can anyone truly believe government will be competent taking over the entire health care system? All we will get is increased costs, and more bureaucracy.

As an example of government at work, the Department of Energy has more than 16 thousand employees and was created in the late 1970s during the energy shortage when there long lines at gas stations, to solve the enregy problem and have the U.S. less dependent on imported oil and increase nuclear power. So how's that working out for us? Thousands of pages of regulations, we import more oil than ever, haven't built a new refinery or nuclear plant in decades.
