I was checking out some pics on militaryphotos.net and I saw some mention of SCARs. I looked them up on Wikipedia and the article said that the 75th Ranger Regiment will be the first unit deployed with the weapon, and that these will eventually replace M4s. It also has a picture of some Rangers from 1st Batt with SCARs at a Nascar event.
Heres the link to the wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_SCAR" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I really know very little about guns and weaponry in general, and I've only ever fired a rifle a handful of times, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight on these. Anyone used one of these or have any thoughts on the Rangers using them in upcoming deployments?

I'm thinking you're going to have to get familiar with it and come back and let me know what you think ;)

Re: FN SCAR
The MK 16 is bad ass. I had the chance to get a block of instruction and detailed hands on assembly/disassembly in a school I recently attended. The instructors were the ones that put it through its practical paces and coordinated the real world testing. One of the things that was the most impressive was that one of the shooters was using the CQC barrel (shortest) hit a target at just over 950m. Everyone laughed and congratulated him on a lucky ass shot, but stopped when he hit it again. They got real quiet when he hit it 4 more consecutive times. Absolutely outstanding design and execution thought I did have major reservations until I actually put my hands on it..... Now I just have to shoot one. I will have one someday, but with prices in the 12-2500 range, I will have to wait until the stupidity subsides.
