Introduction - Carl

Post by juwu »

Hello All,

My name is Carl and I am very soon to be 34-years old. I recently signed my contract for 09S / option 11 (OCS through college option) with my ship date currently set for July 29, 2009. However, my wife is due with our second child around that time and I am working on a request to push my ship date back by a month. My top preference for branching after completing OCS is infantry. Assuming I get my branching preference I would like to become an Airborne Ranger.

Because I don't get a guaranteed job choice, I am hoping to tap into this community's knowledge base to figure out the best way to navigate my way to Ranger School. I have been told that being placed at the top of your classes in Basic and OCS can get you "first pick" of open slots and so I am focusing nearly all of my free time getting into tip-top shape and learning as much as I can before shipping.

I think this is a great forum and hope to learn a lot from everyone.

Kind regards,

Carl

Well, Carl, a man has only one opportunity to create a favorable initial impression. For the moment, I reserve judgement. While most of our focus is on preparing young men for service in the 75th Ranger Regiment, we do pride ourselves on our ability to help future officers prepare themselves for attending Ranger School. Most of the issues you have raised have been addressed several times. If you want to be successful at this site, please read the FAQs as well as appropriate stickies and threads Please use the search feature, the search button is your friend. Someone from the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) will be along shortly to begin your orientation. For your first task, please tell us about yourself. In about 250 words (or so), give some background information and what you hope to achieve by entering the Army. Post your response here not later than midnight, Sunday 31 May 2009. Never, never quit!
