Remingtom Model 700 SPS Tactical .308

Post by Flesh Thorn »

Anyone have any first hand experience with one ? Presently I have a small horde of 7.62 Nato and .308 Win and nothing to shoot it in. I like main battle rifles, but maybe a bolt gun would suit my needs better. Someone offered me one yesterday at a fair price.

I shouldered it and I can't say that I dislike the stock, but I may change my mind after shooting it. As for the 20 barrel, it would be hard for me to find a 1000 yard shot where I live anyways.

I had a similiar stock on my ruger 10/22 and it would not maintain zero due to stock flex-and that was a .22.

I wouldn't worry about barrel length either-I have a shorty LTR myself.

X2 on the fair price question and you can always upgrade the stock. The stock that come on my XCR LRT is really nice.

I have one and have put about 100 rounds through it. So far shoots like a dream. My personal opinion though when you put a scope I would check out High rings instead of medium. I have medium on there right now, its fine for bench or prone shooting but while standing and shooting reloading isn't hard it just doesn't feel as quick as it could be because of space. That .308 packs quite a boom. I like the 20" in barrel not a lot of metal to take into the woods.

Bought a main battle rifle instead. I am betting on the continued increase in value on all "assault" style weapons. Better than leaving my money in the bank. More to follow on new purchase.
