I have been checking this board off and on for the past year because I am interested in the future of SOF in general and the Rangers in particular. I am primarily concerned, right now, with the current selection procedure for officer assignments to the Regiment. My son is a 1LT (tabbed) deployed in Iraq and has started the process.

Re: Introduction
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I do have to confess: my roommate and I quit Ranger School after three days of filing old records while waiting for the next class to begin. Somewhat in our defense, those were the days without Ranger units. They supposedly weren’t needed. The Army’s main mission was to delay the Russian horde streaming through the Fulda Gap until the Hand of God (AKA the Air Force) would come to save our sorry asses. That plan was really well worked out.
I’ve always been disappointed at my timing.
