The Congressof the United States has voted to recognize the winners of the 2008 Best Ranger Competition.

You mean like appropriating funds for the Defense Budget? How about funding the Veterans Administration (VA)?

It just burns my ass when they take the time to pursue their IO campaign and not actual and meaningful legislation.

The Honorable Member of Congress Westmoreland would argue that this entry is Constituent Services, to recognize the accomplishments within his congressional district.

...and of course it gets his name in the papers and on the local news at five and eleven.

I don't think entering things into the Congressional record actually requires a vote. From what I understand, it's become a soapbox for anything and everything that a Congressman wants to address. I've heard of people entering in recipes for apple pie into the Congressional record. Nevertheless, I'm glad that someone decided to put forth a little effort to recognize it.
