Civilian who wants to get into Shape

Post by Moni D »

Ok, I admit it, I really let myself go over the past year or so. I'd like to get back into shape, but have no many to go to a gym, or buy any equipment. I also need to increase my flexibility.

I have some light handweights- one 8lb one and (2) 3 or 5 lb ones.
I have a bicycle and that is slowly improving my cardiovascular fitness.

I REALLY want to do something for under my upper arms, my ass, and my legs, but also need abs

I DO have a few health considerations:
I am prone to PVCs but have been told it isn't a MAJOR concern. (Ranger Doc can probablyexplain this better- the heart basically quivers instead of pumping properly)
I also have chondromylacia in both knees and have to avoid high impact activities.

If any of you Rangers, or anyone else, has any advice, I would love to hear it!!

Thanks!!!

1st off, go to medical and make this same post. Doc will not come here and read this. It is best to get an assessment before you plan anything.

Thanks for the extra info on PVCs Doc :) They were actually caught during a sleep study, and I had to wear a Holter Moniter for 24hrs, which sucked.
The cardiologists report didn't indicate any further follow up, although I had them frequently.
I know caffeine is definitely one of my causes (Those are the ones I tend to feel), so I limit that.

Well, I can already tell you that in less than 3 weeks of bicycling home from college 2x/week (about 20 mins per) my breathing has gotten a lot better. Still nowhere NEAR where I was-when I was 18 I biked anywhere from 10-15 miles/night...

So THAT much is encouraging. I'll continue to update you :D and thanks for the advice and info

Doc wrote:McDonald's. There is a truly frightening article in last month's or the month before issue of Men's Health Fitness about a guy who ate nothing but MickeyDs for 30 days straight. This guy's lipid profile looked like a water sample from Love Canal.

Ranger H8train-
I usually do- especially since I got separated. I don't really care much for fast food.
Pizza it what kills me, but I haven't even wanted THAT lately.

Ty for the advice :)
