Introduction
Rangers,
My name is Dan and I am 38yrs. old. I have traded the financial markets and I am currently a Resident Manager for a community corrections facility. I am married with three wonderful well adjusted, God worshipping, patriotic children. I signed an 11x contract and I ship Feb. 5th.
I have reviewed your site over the course of the past few months and found it very informative. Although I was unable to assertain an option 40 due to a "moral waiver" from an incident 22yrs. ago. I will do everything within my power to earn an opportunity for a shot at volunteering for RIP during the course of my enlistment. I realize that because of my age and my mistake as a 16yr. old that I will have a difficult time attaining my life long desire to serve with the best light infantry the world over. I want to Ranger with every fiber in my being. I will never give up on my dream.
To all those young men who are contemplating what it is they want to do with their adult life please learn from my experience. We must be responsible for our actions and decisions we make on a daily basis. The choices we make can and will effect you for the rest of your life.
To all those who are serving and who had served as a Ranger I would like to extend my admiration, heart felt pride in your utmost dedication and commitment to our great Nation and for putting the fear of God in those who would do us harm. It is because of men like yourselves and others that my children may sleep safe at night.
God Bless
Dan

Welcome, and thanks for the great intro. I'm glad to hear that you enlisted. Not serving would've been one of those things that you would always kicked yourself for. Give it everything you have, and I don't think you'll have any regrets. Best of luck to you, "Pops." (that was one of my many old fart nicknames when I enlisted

Always remember: BROS BEFORE HOES.
Well I have three days left with the family before I ship. I was able to assertain an option 4(Airborne) contract and will work toward RIP over the course of my enlistment. I would like to thank all those who posted with encouragement and advise.
I wish you all the best in any endeavour that you may pursue. Life is to short to be spent in an unfulfilling and unworthy cause.
May the wind always be at your back,
Dan

Dan,
First, good intro. Never too old to go after what you want.
Second, as far as your ' incident ' when you where 16 years old .....unless you took at a shot at the President of the United States, sold military secrets to Russia, or killed someone, I'm pretty sure you can find avenues around this hurdle. Might cost ya $ 1,500 or more, and might not work, but worth looking into.
Welcome.

While a lot of guys retire from the military at your age with twenty years of service, you choose to start a military career. That is outstanding. I hope you get your shot at RIP.
