There isn't much more to it that you already know. It is swelling of the bone in your toes. The best thing for you to do is to follow the instructions from your doctor. Try to keep off it as much as possible, use the RICE method (Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate).

The steroid is to help control the swelling ( I assume ). And I am no rucking expert (or even know the slightest thing about it), but I think it might be a smart idea to gradually increase the weight you ruck with from a lower poundage back up to where you were at when the injury occured.

Chris,
I broke my 3rd metatarsal in my left foot on the 15 mile ruck back from ftx in OSUT. That was back at the end of June. Its now September 15th and im still having to do rehab on it.
The main reason its taken this long is because once that road march was over I still had 2 weeks of training left. Therefore I ran and continued to march on it.
My point is, if I'd taking it easy and not pushed myself Id be healed up by now and probably already a Airborne Grad. As it stands now I still have 3-4 weeks of rehab and then its off to Airborne.

Good luck

~Joseph
