Introduction

Post by TxBowhunter »

Howdy,
I am currently in the Texas Army National Guard OCS program, Class 49. I will commission in Aug and will find out my branch soon. I have been told to expect Infantry. The TX NG is converting to a light infantry division and as a potential light Infantry officer I wanted to come learn as much as I can from the best light infantry soldiers.

I have learned a lot already from searching and reading your forum and look forward to learning more.

There is only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. TxTrident, you have almost succeeded. Now tell us more. Will you be going on active duty to attend IOBC? What are you doing to prepare yourself for the the Ranger course? Read the FAQs, stickies, and appropriate threads; post little. The search button is your friend, the send button is not.

I will be going on active orders to attend BLOC II and then OBC. As soon as I know my branch and assuming it is Infantry I will start talking to my BC about sending me to Ranger school. As I'm sure you are aware slots are hard to come by for NG officers and convincing my BC to pay for it is the first hurdle, although not an insurmountable one.

As for preparing from what I understand physical training is the best prep. I am confident in my land nav ability and troop leading procedures although I need more field experience with both. I look forward to gaining this at IOBC and the NG pre-Ranger course.

With two former Ranger Instructors as NCO TAC's in our course I think I am as prepared as anybody can be for the suck factor and plan to just keep my head down and drive on.

TX = Texas

Trident = I went to college at Texas A&M and was in the Corps of Cadets in a unit that used the Trident as it's symbol.

Welcome to the site. Also good luck in whatever you decide to do, and wherever you are sent to.

Just for your information though, a RANGER asked you a question, you answered it but did not state you were responding to RANGER AbnRgr289. It would be wise to begin doing that.

Again good luck, and work hard.
