Welcome to the site. Don't assume you'll be an Infantry officer let alone get to go to Ranger school. It's a good goal though. Good luck. Read, read and read.

That's a pretty open-ended objective. If you want to serve this great country, read the faqs, and determine if Army is the way you want to go. The search Button is your friend. study much and message little. Learn to lerk and observe. Develop thick skin because the kilted one and the great ape will be along shortly...

A short time ago I was in your position. Make a good decision and stick by it. The Army has little rhyme or reason for how they assign OCS college ops to branches.

Warm Body + Needs of the Army = Your Future

You will not get branch detailed coming out of OCS. You will have a hard time swapping anything but Aviation or MI for Infantry. You can get combat arms. Lately it has been a whole lot of FA, a little less IN, some EN, and a few AR. There is always ADA  I had to fanagle to get what I wanted many others were not as fortunate. If you get IN you will get Ranger School. FA also sends their studs from OBC. There is a pre-Ranger program there at Sill that has some benchmarks you must acheive to be sent post OBC.

Or you could really get the Big Green Dick and be branched QM or Chemical. Remember smile and BOHICA!!!

OCS is been radically changed since I graduated and is a lot more "freedom friendly". I have friends down there, let me know if there is any information I can get you should you decide to go that route.
