Info needed for the following round for reload....

Post by tsod275 »

Anyone have any reload information for the following?

Rifle: Arisaka Type 99
Cartridge: 7.7mm

Looking but can't find the recipe's for this cartridge. If anyone has them, would be great. Also, anyone know where I can find the different bullets for this? I can get the brass and figure I can use one of the standard primers from Federal for Large Rifle. Let me know, if you could, if anyone has any data on this firearm. Thanks :D

Yes, it is usually referred to as "7.7 Jap". I can get the brass...that isn't the problem. Trying to find the bullets might pose a different one though. I'm still researching it, but I think the 7.7mm "JAP" is a .311 cal. Still checking on that. I could probably place a .308 in it, but my shot groups would be all over hell I think. Norma is currently the make maker, but they are expensive. I've heard that Hornady was thinking about making the bullets or even the whole cartridge, but I don't have a definite on that yet.
