Introduction
Hello, my name is Chris. I'm 18 and a civilian from Oklahoma City. I'm also fresh out of high school and in the middle of technical training for Automotive Service Technology (mostly just for knowledge). I currently work at an appliance repair store, and from the experience of that, coupled with my job shadowing in the automotive field has made me realize that I can't just sit around and achieve nothing.
Since a kid, I've been amazed and full of respect for Army Rangers. As a son of an Oklahoma Army National Guardsman and a boy scout, I've gained an extreme amount of respect for servicemen and women and their families. The fact that a group of people care enough to go out of their way and put their lives on the line to improve the lives of many is highly appealing and extremely honorable. In the past few months, I've been seriously considering a military career as a military policeman, but I want more than that. I want to be high speed and elite, and serve with people I've highly respected as a kid; the Airborne Rangers.
Tomorrow I will be speaking with a local recruiter on the Option 40 contract. However, I wont be enlisting until next year. I want to be in top notch shape, to be respectable to the country that I love, the military that I love. I know that after reading that, you may assume that I'm chicken hearted and will be a washout, but that's exactly what I'm going to work against, and I'll be damned if I don't make it. Although I exercise regularly, this week I've began to strive. Currently, I'm 240 lbs of muscle and fat, with flat feet and no depth perception. By next year, I will be solid. I've been walking and jogging for the past two years (off and on since freshman football) but now that I have a serious goal, I will be faster.
Until next year, I'm going to keep striving for it and reading the advice you Rangers give to the DEPs, RIP candidates, and civilians. I've been lurking on here since discovering this board through military.com and the information both sites have gave me have been extremely useful and helpful to me. So far, I've found all the information I need through the search feature and browsing. Thank you for this information.
Anywho, I figured I would introduce myself and tell about myself. now I'll keep quiet and keep working.
Thanks for your time.
Chris
By the way, if anyone has been using this handle (top_cat) or one like it, let me know and I'll create a new one.
