I was torn between a Springfield 1911 Milspec .45, a Springfield XD 40, and this Glock. I really wanted all three.CAL wrote:Excellent choice Ranger EP.
Ranger EP, when I purchased my Glock 30 I had the same problem. Once I sent some rounds downrange, it loosened up. I'm still probably going to purchase an extended slide release one day.EarthPig wrote:
The only thing I'm not pleased with so far with this new one is the slide release. It's next to impossible to activate it...even with two hands. If it doesn't loosen up considerably, I plan on returning it. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks...good to know. I don't recall my issue Glock ever being so stubborn, but perhaps it was.CAL wrote:Ranger EP, when I purchased my Glock 30 I had the same problem. Once I sent some rounds downrange, it loosened up. I'm still probably going to purchase an extended slide release one day.

EP: I don't use mine anymore, it's a slide stop, not a slide release. I've been retraining myself to rack the slide (overhand, thumb towards me) after all reloads because it's the same motion I use for clearing malfunctions. One motion, easier for muscle memory and works better for me under stress.fireranger wrote:Arotek in Tacoma,WA makes a pretty good aftermarket slide release that may help. http://www.arotek.com
Thats what I was gona chime in with, in training somewhere I was told the reason the slide stop was so small on a Glock was that so it could not be used for a slide release. Racking the slide back is supposed to get the most power from the recoil sping and have the least chance at malfunctions during reloads. That being said I would have opted for a Para Ordanance P-14 series. 15 rounds of .45 cant be wrong :DFireguy275 wrote:EP: I don't use mine anymore, it's a slide stop, not a slide release.
