We all think our respective platoons had the greatest variety of characters and legends and oddballs, but 2nd platoon in B Co 1-75 1982-84 had to take the cake. Lamica was the PSG, and not many can match him in ANY category. Then we had Bobby Lane, Dave Lewis, Abe, and Gerald Sheridan. God, I just remembered Sheridan! I think I had suppressed his memory for 25 years. They were a memorable group of squad leaders.

He was the Ops SGM we called "rubba rubba" because, well, thats what we interpreted him to be saying most of the time. In fact, I'm about 100% positive he replaced Dangerous Dave Dalton. Who we loved.
It gets better, if you know Bernie Ricketts, he was my 1sg while "rubba rubba" was the CSM, talk about Hogan and his fucking Goat.

1SG Dalton- knew of him briefly when I arrived in B-1-75. He gave us new cherries a gentle, soft spoken intro to the company. Reminded me of Bing Crosby. Next time I saw him he was bellowing orders like a drill sergeant on speed. What a transformation. As for Lamica, what can you say? Despite the distractions that came out of his mouth, he was a leader to the core. A Ranger in his purest form.
