PM inbound...
Per policy she isn't required to address Rangers on this board with "Ranger".
third - if you are addressing someone on this site who is a veteran in the US Armed Forces, treat them with the respect they are due, as someone who has given of themselves to protect our nation. Even more so if the person is a Ranger - in fact - unless you are an active duty servicemember or veteran, you will address them as 'Ranger' prior to writing their username, such as 'Ranger Saltbitch' or 'Ranger ABell9', etc... New members who show contempt or disrespect for Rangers on this site are quickly banned.

Ranger Flesh Thorn...i am sorry, but the only job i had before ths military was at a universal studios, and thank you for finding that particular rule for me, however, i am still going to use ranger, if that is what most people here want. Ranger KW Driver...you are right, i am not wearing my throat protector, my company does not enforce that particular piece of gear, my inner DAPS however are under my ACU top, and as a driver i am not made to wear the outer set.

Ranger KW Driver asked about PCIs.

I asked about your supplemental armor. What's an inner DAPS?

Only DAPS I know about is way too big to fit under anyone's body armor. Unless of course, King Kong or Godzilla have enlisted.

You're still not big enough to fit a DAPS under your RBA, bro.
You might win a tug-a-war with one, though.

Hey, that rhymed.

Ranger evilcouch...we must be thinking of different body armor, the DAPS that i speak of are small...most of the males in my company complain about them not fitting around there arms, or that they are too tight. these daps have a semi wide elastic band the go around the rotator cuff of the upper arms, and have thin, flexable 'kevlar' that hangs down to protect the side of the torso. and velcro at the top of the band to connect it to the IBA, if you choose to do so.

No, the DAPS I was referring to is a fucking helicopter.

I don't think I've ran across what you're talking about.

The supplemental armor we got when I was over there was the early versions of the shoulder pads, the collar pieces, the throat protector, the groin pad and these pieces of kelvar, put into pouches and strapped the sides of the IBA. Except, they didn't design it correctly, so after a few weeks, the kevlar settled to the bottom of the pouches and protected a fraction of the area they were supposed to.

Sounds like your DAPS are an improvement on that kevlar pouch.

Ranger EvilCouch, it is a "revised" form of the one you are speaking of. My husband has it as well and says it's pretty good. He also says it's a lot lighter but still hell to put on by yourself when it comes to the shoulders.

wow...thank you evilcouch, i think i now know something my team leader doesnt!! (about the helicopter) :P and your right, i think they are an improved version, sounds like it anyway. I know that now they are issueing plates, similar to the ones in the front and back of the IBA, that are worn, to the side, on the outside of the IBA and, from what i have been told and seen, are extreamly bulky and heavy. not only that, but the bewer DAPS are worn on the outside of them.
