T,
I just shot our mutual acquaintance an e-mail to inquire if any of this shit surfaced when he was there.
As COOLEY would say "MAKES MY FUCKING HAIR HURT"
Gotcha. Don't think he's around there any more. At least I hope he's been able to move onto something nicer.
As for the party it was confirmed as going down. Due to the latest arrest of four US contractors in relation to a murder case against a US citizen in the IZ, I think all the gay pride parades will be on hold until further notice. Maybe there's actually more important stuff to do than dress up in drag when you're in Baghdad...
HL, that's pretty much a given with today's "news" and thanks for the offer but I neither know the gentleman who got murdered, nor the guys who are being accused of doing it.
My point was that the kind of shitstorm a murder creates inside what is still perceived to be a relatively safe area, will clamp down the fun meter in the IZ very quickly. Even for the party animals at the Embassy.

So far no one's heard about it, not even anyone I asked inside. Most agree that if it actually went down it was probably just a group of homo's that just did it inside the compound and it wasn't an official, DoS event.
The DS agents down here where I am confirmed that this did in fact take place. They also wanted the agents providing security to dress up, but that didn't happen.

What size? We were always waiting for the 240s to come pounding in.

I believe that we had a tuna impact in the IZ in 2007 while I was there. IIRC, it hit the small FOB right behind our camp.
