Nope... the above mentioned are also a viable food source as they are made out of meat. If that doesn't fly they can also be used to fertilize the crops.

You're gonna eat some AIDs or HepII infected asshole from the city over a fresh cut of venison or a steak? I'll pass, thanks.

The only part of the human anatomy that's edible is the pussy. And then only under certain conditions. :)

No insult intended. I know Rangers are taught survival. Farming and survival are slightly different skills. Ranching and survival are slightly different skills. I know a bunch of that shit. My grandparents grew up here in the Appalachians at a technological level just a little above that of the pioneeers. I learned a lot and never even realized it untill later. My Granny was a herbalist and wild food cook. I used to go with her to pick all kinds of wild greens and all of my male relatives hunted and fished. I used to think that they were crazy for stockpiling groceries and saving every damn thing. The truth is that the way they grew up you had to stockpile and make use of everything. They told me that during the Great Depression that it didn't affect the people here very much, because they never had anything to start with. Some things I am behind on like building log cabins and salting meat, but I can make buckskin, sew, hunt, fish, gather and from my own first hand experience I know that after a week without electricity it will just be missed as a luxury not as a necessity. I am lucky to live in an area where many of the people will probaly thrive if the economy collapses and we have to go back to a lower level of technology.

Yea, but what will that do to the gene pool if the only ones who survive are a bunch of inbred fucktards to begin with?

Ranger LLU and I had a conversation/argument/debate about this the other day. I got a book on good old country living (basic herbs, basic farming, basic ranching, basic building, animal care, etc). and he looked at me kind of crazy. I told him I wanted it for information purposes. That's where the thread came from. There are so many people that don't know anything about the basics. My first year of farming would be trial and error.

That was the whole thought of the thread. I seems that Ranger Abell9 is light years ahead of me and has his shit in order! I would like to be that prepared also. I am a 'just in case' type person.
