Cherry jump
Visited before, but never posted. Served at Fort Lewis in the early 90's at a unit affectionately known as the "ranger penal battalion". It was the place that 2nd Bat. rangers got sent to when they stepped on their dicks or left for whatever reason. Seemed like the whole damn unit ('cept for me) had been at 2nd battalion at one time or another, my platoon daddy (Sgt Olivieri) and several squad leaders (Ordonio and others) were combat-tabbed rangers. Anyway, I'm hoping to re-connect with some of my old buddies, and figured the Ranger connection would be strong, so here I am. Those days were a long time ago, I'm a practically middle-aged civilian now, with the wife, kids, boring job, the whole works. Try not to live in the past, but it seems the older I get, the rosier those days look (freezing my bags at Yakima, hogging at the Madigan club, slumming in Tillicum, 100-mile road marches, getting laid at the C-5 mock-up). If any of you guys are still at Fort Lewis, let me know how much it's changed, if any.

Welcome Keith, and thank you for your service, I highly recommend that you read the FAQ's and start addressing Rangers in the proper fashion.
Thanks,
Dublo

Other people were fine and you liked them and were good friends; but you only felt true tenderness and love for those who had been there and had received the castigation that everyone receives who goes there long enough." Ernest Hemingway

Dublo:
Please don't take this the wrong way, 'cause I really don't want to get into any internet pissing contests with anyone.
While in the army I knew quite a few Rangers and got along swimingly with all of them, they were to a man, a great bunch of guys. The few who thought their rangerly duties involved acting like a complete asshole ("E-4 with a tab syndrome"), were generally to be avoided.
The fact remains that I am no longer in the Army and haven't been for a while. I don't stand at parade rest for anyone, I don't say yessir/nossir or "hooah sarn't" anymore, I don't salute, and I don't kiss anyone's ass, period. When in uniform I always observed proper military courtesy, but I never kissed ass.
If you or any of the other guys can't accept that, I understand and will refrain from further postings, It's your site and I have no desire to fuck it up for anyone. Let me know.

Jesus H. Christ, what the fuck is your problem? You acknowledged the rules and regulations of this board when you signed up. There are lots of other veterans that aren't Rangers or Ranger qualified that have no problems addressing these men for what they have earned. I don't have any issues with it, and I've been out of the military for 15 years. I don't look at it like kissing ass either, cause these men don't suffer fools or asskissers at all. The tolerance level for sophomoric pissant behavior is very low here, and that is one of the main reasons for me being here.keithlester wrote:Dublo:
