Welcome here Carlos, work your ass off preparing for what’s coming and study hard, because the work you put in here will pay dividends in the long run once you begin RASP. And above all else, embrace the journey, it’s your odyssey.

Face it head on.

My name is Carlos.
I'm a 21 year old dirtbag; an inconsistent, undisciplined, and entitled pile of dirt.
I have grown sick to my stomach of this kid; so I joined the Army.
I wholeheartedly believe the Big Army will instill necessary habits, and that the fires of RASP will forge my dull edges into razor blades. I'm beyond excited I've been blessed with the chance to be apart of the best fighting force in the world.
There is so much to soak up here. I have no doubt I will be squared away by ship time.

Thank you all for everything you've done and continue to do for this country and for us. Hooah!
Hey, Carlos. If you're looking to earn your spot in Ranger Regiment, this site is a good start. I see you already were able to make a follow up post and checked in on Discord!

Why did you pick 11X? Any motivation behind it? Obviously Regiment offers tons of jobs.

You've been out of school for awhile. Did you play any sports? What has changed from you leaving school til now? You obviously have the gift of internet gab (meaning you type well). Is that a hobby or did you stare at the screen for 30 minutes trying to be clever? 8)

Glad you found us.

I enjoyed sports over school as well. So I dropped out of high school. Twice. I came back, got my grades up to play, and then left again.

I am currently about half a dozen classes from my 4 year degree which I put off for 10 years in the military. Schooling never stops. It is one of my big talking points here to anyone on the board. It never hurts you and opens more doors compared to sitting on your ass. And, in the military, you can do it for free on so many levels... Keep that in mind.

That being said... your choices don't define who you are. You're dedicated to something much bigger than school. But you are not bigger than learning!

I agree with you 100%, education is super important. The GI Bill is the holy grail, I'm well aware of it's benefits. I will be pursuing nursing after my stint in the military. Hopefully I'm able to secure an ASN while active, but it's unlikely considering you're obligated to participate in clinical trials. What is your degree in and how will you utilize it?
I started my degree 10 years late so I am still working on my 4 year degree in Business Administration. I have about 7 classes to go. Primarily using it to stand out among my peers for promotion. Don't really have a plan for it post military yet.

Just to be a bit more direct, my point was for you to enroll in school while you serve once you arrive to your unit. Even if you only serve for 4-8 years you can accomplish quite a few generic classes that will slave you 1-2 years of school time later (generally speaking)
