Introduction- Avonte

Post by avontepayne10 »

Hi, my name is Avonte

I am currently going into my senior year of highschool in West Virginia and have wanted to Join the 75th Regiment for the past 2 or 3 years. I have been reading on this forum for about a week now and decided to make an account and introduce myself, I have already spoken to some of the recruiters at my highschool but I have been told multiple times not to trust a recruiter. I have also just started PT training 3 days ago and have not yet tested myself. I plan on taking full advantage of the full year I have before I turn 17 and graduate highschool before I enlist and get shipped off, until then I plan on learning everything there is to learn about the rangers and have started learning the Ranger Creed and studying Ranger history.

P.S I apologize if this looks weird as I typed this on my phone

Welcome. Decent intro. There’s plenty and I mean plenty of info here for you to learn from and will help guide your process.

You should take a full APFT as soon as possible so you can see exactly where you stand with it. That gives you a baseline so you can see how you progress with your training.

Work hard, keep your head straight and stay out of trouble. Lot of young men pass through here, those who are serious have been very successful with ArmyRanger.coms mentor and training program.

Remember that this is not anything like FB, you’re here for a purpose, not to make friends.

Good luck, others will be along shortly.

Hey Avonte,

If you're looking to be apart of the 75th Ranger Regiment, this is the best vetted source out on the net as far as I can find. Read often and ask informed questions. Search Google or where-ever, search here, and then come at us with a well put together thought so we don't have to re-do years worth of questions! Seems like you are doing that so far.

Not trusting a recruiter is accurate and a bit harsh. They have a job to do. Your job at this point is to know that and understand that this is your career you are signing up for and you have control of it. Never forget that.

You planned to do an APFT "tomorrow" and that was a week ago. Have you been able to do it yet? If not, what's the issue? Excuses are valid here because I asked 8)

Thank you very much Ranger Disinfertention, I had full intentions on doing a complete APFT test and realized I could barely do 10 push-ups in a set, I have continued working and can now do 32 push-ups before I can’t get myself off the ground, every morning from 2am-6am as I have a very messed up sleep schedule, currently I am able to get

Pull-ups-10
Sit ups- 57
Push-ups- 37 (my problem with push-ups is I get 30 in 40 seconds and then can barely get myself back up)
2 mike run- 15:37
But I have decided to quit playing basketball so I can continue to strictly focus on becoming a Ranger and I have over a year to get those numbers up, my goal is to be able to get 90 push-ups and 90 sit ups and 15 Pull-ups. I realize how far fetched that sounds given my current scores but all that means is I have to push harder

Did you make it to a recruiter? How did it go if you did?

Ranger Disinfertention, I did not go speak to my Recruiter. I asked my Uncle who is ex- Army take me and he told me when he got to my house in his exact words “You already know what you want, and the only thing he will do is tell you things you already know and then try to talk you into a different MOS, and you’re too stubborn to get talked out of it.” He told me that when I turned 17 on August 30th he would take me to the recruiter so I could actually enlist.

Sounds like good advice. Keep us updated on your pt progress in the meantime.
