Hey Vossman. Welcome to the site. We have a few stickies inside of the introductions area you just posted in. I'd recommend you read those and identify the issues in your post before replying to me or anyone else who will pass on advice.

OPT 40 contracts can be hard to come by. If you know that is what you want to do I would secure it quickly. If you do that let us know. This is probably the best, and only site specifically built with a section for mentoring OPT 40 folks that has years of information in it.

Try searching our site for some of the questions you asked. Arm yourself with some of the discussion points on here. I was just talking to one of the OPT 40 folks about boots a week or two ago.

If you secure an OPT 40 contract one of the Ranger's here runs an informal class about map reading and land nav. That might be an option for you.

We have a whole forums dedicated to PT - If you are some form of athlete the only thing you'd probably have to work on is the APFT specifics and rucking.

Again welcome here. I'm tossing you a freebie... we used to lock threads when we thought folks didn't read all the rules but I'm soft in my old age (33 this year! that's ancient in this community...). Again, confirm you've read the stickies and then adhere to them before you post another topic or reply.

It's in an announcement at the top of this forum so technically not a sticky, I misrepresented that.

Vossman26 wrote: February 18th, 2018, 5:22 pm Yes sir, and there are not any 11x option 40 contracts until around august is what I was told. Kind of a bummer but it does give me time to train.

Thank you
Well, it never goes without being said even though every thread on here that has this type of comment in it, it gets told to someone trying to sign up...

It's your career. Only sign the line when it is exactly what you want to do. They will tell you they can renegotiate your contract. They will tell you that you can volunteer in basic. They will try to sell you a different MOS with an OPT 40. All of these things are true but do not do it unless it is exactly what you want to do. You said 11x Opt 40. So be patient! Waiting 6 months now is better than 4 years of what if.

Hey Vossman,

That is a really unique opportunity. Glad you got to meet some of the men who do it day in and day out. What are you doing to prepare for the military and your OPT40?

Please always capitalize Ranger here. Besides that, we ask for proper grammar, although it's never perfect. I figure you are not on a computer typing to us but try a bit harder.

Have you checked in with your recruiter lately? Are they still saying August for a 11X OPT40?
